Kirsten Beukes

Director and Occupational Therapist

Kirsten Beukes is a senior occupational therapist with an interest in vocational rehabilitation, workplace-based assessment and treatment. She supports individuals and businesses to address barriers to productive work participation through evidence-based, client-centred occupational therapy intervention.

Kirsten has experience across neurology, psychiatry, vocational rehabilitation and medico-legal occupational therapy. Her clinical work includes vocational assessments, functional capacity evaluations and rehabilitation for individuals presenting with chronic pain, autoimmune conditions and complex neuropsychiatric profiles.

In addition to her clinical role, Kirsten provides professional leadership within the practice. She is the administrator of the Workipedia interest group and mentors occupational therapists developing expertise in vocational rehabilitation. Her work is guided by a strong value for meaningful work participation and the role of occupational therapy in supporting sustainable work outcomes within the community.

Rachel Maponya

Office Administrator

Rachel Maponya is the office administrator at Kirsten Beukes Occupational Therapists. She provides administrative and coordination support to the practice and serves as the first point of contact for clients, patients and team members.

Rachel supports the day-to-day functioning of the practice through appointment scheduling, calendar management, correspondence, invoicing and maintenance of office systems. She contributes to a structured and welcoming practice environment that supports efficient service delivery. She also assists with language translation for patients when required.

Rachel brings a friendly, calm, organised and practical approach to her role and values her contribution to supporting both patients and the clinical team. She is involved in the administration of monthly occupational therapy webinars through Workipedia, including registration management, distribution of access links, loading of CPD points and generation of certificates.

Emily Hewson

Clinical Lead and Occupational Therapist

Emily Hewson is a senior occupational therapist and Team Lead with a special interest in mental health, vocational rehabilitation, workplace wellbeing and medico-legal practice. She works with complex presentations where psycho-emotional, cognitive and physical factors interact to affect functioning, participation and recovery.

Emily’s work includes both assessment and rehabilitation, with a focus on participation across daily life roles. Her intervention approach supports graded rehabilitation, pacing, regulation and skills development to facilitate safe and sustainable re-engagement in daily activities, work and routine.

She has experience working with mental health conditions, fatigue, burnout, psychosocial risk and adjustment following illness or injury. Emily also enjoys supporting neurodivergent individuals, and wellbeing-focused intervention with adults and adolescents.

In her Team Lead role, Emily provides clinical oversight and mentorship and contributes to the development of practice systems and outcome-informed service delivery. She has presented outcome measure implementation at Workipedia.
